The flowers downtown are planted to coordinate with all the
Mardi Gras decorations of purple, green and gold.
Just last week, there were beautiful Paper Whites.
The flowers will look perfect the morning after the parades. City workers literally
sweep through the streets and restore every petal by the next day.
Magic.
This is going to be a great weekend in Fairhope! Friday night is First Friday Artwalk, and Saturday is our first of three Mardi Gras Parades. The Knights of Ecor Rouge will roll down the streets at 6:45pm.
Our annual Dog parade, The Mystic Mutts of Revelry is at 3:30 Saturday and is a fund raiser for The Haven, our no-kill shelter.
Most businesses and homes are decked out in purple, green and gold.
Dr. Corte's signs are always so funny, I'm sure they've caused
some near-wrecks on the four-lane!
Nothing goes unadorned.
De La Mar Street always looks beautiful.
This huge Mardi Gras wreath was in Glass Orthodontics in Daphne. I think it's my favorite!
Mobile will have 9 parades this weekend!
If there isn't enough excitement along the Gulf Coast with all the parades and balls, you can always head over to New Orleans for the Super Bowl!

You are right! The paper I was looking at said 2:30 - but I think that is when they assemble at the park. The parade actually starts at 3:30.

Sounds like y'all are getting ready for some great Mardi Gras parades! I can't believe that Mobile has nine! I'm from Louisiana and spent a few years in NO so I'm very familiar with Mardi Gras, though I haven't been to a parade in many years...

Wow, I didn't know Fairhope got so into Mardi Gras. It seems that celebration gets bigger every year in a whole lot of places. Like many others, I'm loving the Moon Pie sign.
What beautiful decorations! Both of those wreaths are stunning. (And the Moonpie marquee made me laugh out loud!)
I knew it! I saw the little tiny link, smaller than a postage tamp party picture and thought it looked like Fairhope....and it was! I got to go to the KOER and the mystic muts parade one year. So much fun! Wish I was going this year, too.
